Aug 5 (Reuters) -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening lower on Monday, with futures FFIc1 down 1.4%.


* SENIOR: British aerospace engineer Senior Plc SNR.L posted a 10% rise in its first-half profit, buoyed by demand for commercial aircraft and higher defence spending.

* ABRDN: Abrdn ABDN.L finance chief Jason Windsor is the front-runner to become the next chief executive of the British fund manager following the departure of Stephen Bird, the Financial Times reported.

* CAR SALES: New car registrations in Britain recorded their 24th consecutive month of growth in July, preliminary industry data showed.

* OIL: Oil futures extended losses in a volatile session as fears of a recession in top oil consumer the United States offset supply worries stemming from mounting tensions in the Middle East, the world's largest oil producing region.

* GOLD: Gold prices drifted higher, aided by worries that the United States could be headed for a recession and rising bets that the Federal Reserve will likely need to start cutting interest rates aggressively.

* METALS: Prices of copper and other metals in London edged up as previous price falls triggered some buying opportunity, while looming concerns over global economies weighed on sentiment, capping further gains.
