ANKARA, Aug 29 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.

The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 34.0625 against the U.S. dollar at 0420 GMT, compared with a close of 34.0485 on Wednesday.

The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed slightly higher at 9,757.16 points on Wednesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian shares followed Wall Street futures lower on Thursday as Nvidia's results disappointed some bullish investors, while the dollar steadied and the Treasury yield curve came within a whisker of turning positive.


PRESIDENT PROGRAM

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will receive letters of credence from ambassadors in a ceremony in Ankara (1100 GMT). Erdogan will then receive ambassadors from Switzerland, Germany and Denmark among others for meetings.


EMPLOYMENT PROJECT

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and Labour Minister Vedat Isikhan will attend an event in Ankara for a project to increase employment (1200 GMT).

FOREIGN MINISTER

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attends the EU foreign ministers' informal meeting in Brussels, the first time Turkey has been invited to such a meeting in five years, after Ankara's calls to revitalise relations.


ECONOMIC CONFIDENCE

The Turkish Statistical Institute announces its monthly economic confidence index for August (0700 GMT).
