Turkey - Factors To Watch on Aug 23
ANKARA, Aug 23 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 33.9630 against the U.S. dollar at 0435 GMT, from a close of 33.90 on Thursday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.17% higher at 9,921.40 points on Thursday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares stuttered on Friday while the dollar rebounded from one-year lows as investors were cautious ahead of a speech by the world's most powerful central banker with markets looking for confirmation U.S. rate cuts would start in September.
FOREIGN ARRIVALS TRTARR=ECI
The Tourism Ministry is scheduled to release foreign arrivals data for July. (0800 GMT)
JUSTICE MINISTER
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc will visit the southeastern province of Sanliurfa, where he will attend opening ceremonies and hold a series of meetings.
HEALTH MINISTER
Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu will visit the southeastern province of Hatay and attend a provincial evaluation meeting. He will then visit the eastern province of Osmaniye.
TRADE MINISTER
Trade Minister Omer Bolat will attend an opening ceremony in the northwestern province of Tekirdag. (0800 GMT)
TRANSPORT MINISTER
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will inspect a train construction site in the central province of Kayseri and hold a series of meetings.
TURKEY-EU
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a meeting of European Union ministers in Brussels next week that Ankara hopes will pave the way for improved ties with the bloc, the ministry's spokesperson said on Thursday.
