Turkey - Factors To Watch on Aug 22
ANKARA, Aug 22 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 33.92 against the U.S. dollar at 0425 GMT, from a close of 33.9025 on Wednesday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.78% lower at 9,904.79 points on Wednesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares inched higher while the dollar was pinned to one-year lows on sterling and the euro on Thursday as Federal Reserve minutes showed policymakers were ready to start cutting U.S. interest rates.
INDUSTRY MINISTER
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir will take part in a groundbreaking and opening ceremony in the central province of Nigde, and later attend another opening ceremony in the central province of Nevsehir. (0800 GMT) (1115 GMT)
TRANSPORT MINISTER
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will an event on smart transportation in Ankara. (0900 GMT)
ENVIRONMENT MINISTER
Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum will visit a construction site in a reserve site in the southeastern province of Adiyaman. (1100 GMT)
CONSUMER CONFIDENCE DATA TRCONC=ECI
The Turkish Statistics Institute will announce consumer confidence data for August. (0700 GMT)
CENTRAL BANK DATA
The Central Bank will release its weekly money and banking statistics and monthly data on reserves. (1130 GMT)
GAZA CEASEFIRE TALKS
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the latest of state efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas in a phone call on Wednesday, Turkey's foreign ministry spokesperson said.
