Turkey - Factors To Watch on Aug. 19
ISTANBUL, Aug 19 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 33.7200 against the U.S. dollar at 0401 GMT, after closing at 33.7015 on Friday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 1.61% lower at 9,821.96 points on Friday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks were taking a breather on Monday after global equities enjoyed their best week in nine months on expectations the U.S. economy would dodge a recession and cooling inflation would kick off a cycle of interest rate cuts.
OPPOSITION
Main opposition Repblican People's Party (CHP) leader Ozgur Ozel will chair a meeting of his party's executive committee (1100 GMT). Right-wing IYI Party leader Musavat Dervisoglu will visit the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa.
JOBLESS DATA
The Turkish Statistics Institute will release unemployment data for the April-June period.(0700 GMT)
WILDFIRES
Firefighters in Turkey have brought under control two large forest fires that had been burning for three days, with several other wildfires across the country expected to be put out soon, the Forestry Minister said on Sunday.
BRAWL IN PARLIAMENT
A fistfight broke out in Turkey's parliament on Friday when an opposition deputy was attacked after calling for his colleague, jailed on charges of organising anti-government protests but since elected an MP, to be admitted to the assembly.
