Tunisia buys estimated 125,000 T barley in tender, traders say
Adds other purchases with sellers from paragraph two
HAMBURG/PARIS, Oct 8 (Reuters) -Tunisia's state grains agency is believed to have purchased about 125,000 metric tons of animal feed barley in an international tender on Tuesday, European traders said.
The barley was said to have been bought at the lowest price of $231.60 a ton, cost and freight (c&f) included, for 25,000 tons from trading house Dreyfus, with Dreyfus selling another 25,000 tons at $236.30 a ton c&f.
Two other 25,000 ton consignments were sold by Cargill at $232.47 and $233.88 a ton c&f.
Viterra also sold 25,000 tons at $239.96 a ton c&f.
Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are possible later.
The grain can be sourced from optional origins and is sought in five consignments of 25,000 tons for shipment between Oct. 25 and Dec. 15 depending on origin selected.
Finance for the tender is being provided by the World Bank, one of the organisations helping Tunisia to contend with its current financial difficulties.
