STOXX SET FOR BIGGEST WEEKLY GAIN IN THREE MONTHS

The STOXX 600 .STOXX is rising 0.4%, on track for a weekly gain of 2.5% if it keeps up gains throughout the day. This would be the biggest weekly rise the index has clocked in three months.

The index is back to levels last seen on August 1, the day before U.S. jobs data triggered a dramatic market sell-off.

European autos .SXAP are lifting 1.2% today, perhaps reflecting the more optimistic growth outlook permeating markets following U.S. data this week. Nevertheless, the sector remains down 13% in the past three months, being one of the main cyclical spaces suffering during the recent rotation into defensives.

Personal and household goods .SXQP are the worst-off stocks today, down 0.2%.

As for single stock moves, the top mover is Nibe Industrier .NIBEb.ST, rising 12.3% after its Q2 report.

German-based life science company Bayer BAYGn.DE shares are adding 9.2% after it won a legal victory in its fight to limit liability from claims that its Roundup weed killer causes cancer.
