S&P 500 AND NASDAQ END A BIT HIGHER AS TESLA RALLIES

The S&P 500 .SPX ended marginally higher on Monday, lifted by a rally Tesla and gains in other tech-related stocks as investors looked to upcoming quarterly reports.

Tesla TSLA.O jumped 5.6% after Morgan Stanley replaced Ford Motor F.N as its "top pick" in the U.S. automotive industry. Ford dipped 1.6%.

Microsoft MSFT.O gained 0.3% ahead of its report after the bell on Tuesday. Amazon AMZN.O and Apple AAPL.O each rose under 1% ahead of their reports on Thursday.

Also on investors' radar, the Fed ends its scheduled meeting on Wednesday and is widely expected to signal a September rate cut.

Of the 11 S&P 500 sector indexes, seven rose, led by consumer discretionary .SPLRCD, up 1.4%, followed by a 0.9% gain in communication services .SPLRCL.
