HAMBURG, July 15 (Reuters) -South Korea’s state-backed Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. purchased an estimated 204,600 metric tons of rice mainly to be sourced from China in an international tender which closed earlier in July, European traders said on Monday.

The purchase included about 174,600 tons of short brown rice from China, bought at between $876 to $882 a ton c&f, they said.

It also included about 17,000 tons of medium brown rice from the United States bought at $839 a ton c&f and some small volumes from Thailand and Vietnam, they said.

Most sales were made by Korean trading house Posco, they said, with two others making smaller sales. The rice was for arrival in South Korea between August 2024 and June 2025, they said.

Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.
