MOSCOW, July 4 (Reuters) -Russia's Sakhalin 2 liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant's two lines have been halted for a month of planned maintenance since June 17, Rystad Energy analysts said on Wednesday.

Maintenance is being performed on one train first and then the other, with some overlap, the analysts wrote in a note.

Kommersant newspaper reported this week that the Sakhalin 2 plant has halted LNG exports since June 20, probably because of maintenance.

Two sources familiar with the company's operations said that the Sakhalin-2 project had suspended oil output since June for planned maintenance along with repair work on its LNG plant.

Sakhalin Energy, the project's operator, did not respond to a request for a comment.

The Sakhalin region administration said Sakhalin 2 has plans to produce 9.6 million metric tons of LNG this year.

Japanese companies Mitsui 8031.T and Mitsubishi 8058.T still jointly own 22.5% of the project while Russian state energy giant Gazprom GAZP.MM owns the rest of the company.
