POLITICS

Italy will take a "responsible" approach to its budget policy, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said, after the European Commission recommended disciplinary budget steps against Rome along with six other countries over their high fiscal gaps.

Treasury announces sale of BTP Short and BTPei bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on June 25.

TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

Telecom Italia (TIM) is working to finalise the sale of its fixed line network to KKR KKR.N on July 1, the telecoms group CEO told during investors meeting at Mediobanca headquarters in Milan, according to a source briefed on the matter. Pietro Labriola also said the company could consider M&A for its domestic operations, according to the same source. In particular, it could consider a merger of its enterprise business with a peer in the IT sector, while the consumer business could explore a deal with a rival.


MEDIA

Advertising spending in Italy rose 6.7% year-on-year in April, Nielsen said on Wednesday.

The world's leading hearing aid retailer aims to increase turnover to 3 billion euros as soon as possible and wants to increase its market share in the United States, CEO Enrico Vita told daily Il Corriere della Sera on Thursday. He added the company wants to expand via M&A as well as organic growth.

Vitol's subsidiary Varas has filed with market watchdog Consob its mandatory tender offer for the 54.52% of ordinary shares it does not yet own in the Italian oil refiner, which is due to take over, at the price of 1.6 euros per share, Saras said on Wednesday.

The Italian gas distributor has been granted access to the data room of 2i Rete Gas as part of exclusive talks to take it over, Radiocor news agency said on Wednesday, adding that the deal would be worth about 5 billion euro and that Italgas aims to make a binding offer by the end of the year.

The defence group announced late on Wednesday the disposal of its stake in Industria Italiana Autobus to Seri Industrial. Seri Industrial will buy 98% of the share capital, while 2% will continue to be held by Invitalia.

Italy's market watchdog Consob has approved a capital hike for up to 400 million euros starting on June 24, the shipbuilder said late on Wednesday, adding the rights issue will not be considered a hyper-dilutive capital increase. Fincantieri's board had announced the capital hike earlier this month to finance the acquisition of Leonardo LDOF.MI's submarines business Underwater Armament Systems (UAS), in a deal valuing the unit 415 million euros.

Gemini BidCo entered into a sale and purchase agreement for a 53.24% stake at a price per share of 2.53 euros, it said on Thursday. After completion, Gemini BidCo will promote a mandatory tender offer on the remaining shares aimed at delisting. Closing expected at July-end.

Total EU registrations for the French-Italian automaker fell 6.9% year-on-year in May, ACEA said. Overall new car sales in the bloc fell by 3%, the second drop this year, and were down 2.6% in a wider region covering the EU, Britain and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
