Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told her Brothers of Italy party on Tuesday that it should expunge from its ranks anyone who idolises Italy's fascist past.

Italian authorities intercepted and seized two Chinese-made military drones that were destined for Libya and disguised as wind turbine equipment, Italy's customs police and customs agency said on Tuesday.

Italy on Tuesday secured a preliminary go ahead from the European Commission for the payment of a fifth tranche from its post-COVID recovery funds worth 11 billion euros.

Unipol raised its stake in BPER Banca to 24.62% on June 21 from 19.85% after its unit Unipol Sai undersigned a derivative share swap contract, a filing by market watchdog Consob said on Tuesday. Unipol has no plans to further raise its stake in the bank or acquire control of it over the next six months, the filing added.

Morgan Stanley said on Wednesday it had resumed coverage of the Italian energy group with an 'equal weight' rating.

The Italian advanced materials and technologies company said on Wednesday it will delist from the Milan bourse from July 9.

M&A, ITA AIRWAYS

The European Commission is expected to clear Lufthansa LHAG.DE's acquisition of a 41% stake in Italy's state-owned airline for 325 million euros.

Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, ITA Airways Chairman Antonino Turicchi and Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr will hold a news conference in Rome at 1030 GMT.
