ECONOMY

Italy plans to confirm a commitment to bring its deficit-to-GDP ratio below the European Union's 3% ceiling in 2026 in the Treasury's medium-term structural budget plan to be presented by mid-September, sources said.


DEBT

Treasury sells 4.0-4.5 billion euros new 3.00% BTP bonds due Oct. 1, 2029; 2.75-3.25 billion euros 3.85% BTP bonds due Feb. 1, 2035; 1.0-1.5 billion euros CCTeu bonds due April 15, 2032. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.


COMPANIES

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

The Italian bank postponed the date of its board meeting to approve third quarter results to Nov. 5 from Oct. 23, it said on Wednesday.


MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI

The Italian lender completed on Wednesday the placement of a 7-year, 750-million-euro covered bond, with around 74% of orders coming from abroad, it said.

In its half-year report, the bank raised some issues related to commitments made to the EU, especially with regards to the sale, by the end of the year, of stakes held in non-strategic companies, some newspapers reported on Thursday.

The group's board of directors did not agree on the fairness of price of a takeover bid by Fnac Darty FNAC.PA and Ruby Equity Investment, the Italian consumer electronics retailer said on Thursday. Unieuro also raised some "critical issues" regarding the reasons for the offer, future plans and any following extraordinary transactions, the statement said.

A stock split might make sense in light of the recent share rally and high price per share on the market, MF reported citing financial sources.

New car sales in the European Union rose 0.2% in July, slowed by declines in France and Germany, while battery-electric vehicles continued to lose market share, data from Europe's auto industry body showed on Thursday.

Car registrations at Europe's three largest carmakers Volkswagen VOWG_p.DE, Stellantis and Renault RENA.PA fell in July from a year earlier by 2.2%, 5.2% and 1.7%, respectively, amid growing competition from China.

Funds earmarked for the space sector amount to 7.2 billion euros for the years up to 2026 and include those from the European Space Agency (ESA), the government and the European post-Covid fund, Minister Adolfo Urso told Corriere della Sera in an interview published on Thursday. "All of them will be used and will have a three-fold impact on the production system, for large and small companies," Urso said.

BRUNELLO CUCINELLI BCU.MI

Italian luxury group Brunello Cucinelli posted a 19% increase in first-half operating profit on Wednesday, reaching 104.6 million euros ($116.4 million), and confirmed its guidance for a 10% increase in sales this year.
