DUBLIN, Sept 4 (Reuters) -Irish services activity picked up pace in August, boosted by new business and a faster rise in employment, a survey showed on Wednesday.

The AIB Global S&P Purchasing Managers' Index increased to 53.8 in August, from 53.6 in July, moving further above the 50 mark that separates growth from contraction.

For the first time in three months, all four sub-sectors covered by the survey gained, with a notable bounce in activity for the Transport, Tourism & Leisure sector after months of contraction, AIB's Chief Economist David McNamara said.

But McNamara cautioned that input cost inflation remained high and that the rate of increase had ticked up marginally on the month.

And while business sentiment for the coming 12 months remained broadly positive, expectations moderated across most sectors to a 21-month low.
