Finnair to resume Estonia flights hit by GPS outage

HELSINKI, May 16 (Reuters) -Finnair FIA1S.HE will resume flights to Tartu on June 2 after the Estonian airport has installed a new approach solution that does not require GPS signal, the Finnish airline said in a statement on Thursday.
Finnair last monthpaused its flights to Tartu in eastern Estonia due to ongoing GPS disturbances that prevented two aircraft from landing.
Most airports offer navigation systems that do not rely on GPS signals, and this is now also the case at Tartu, the carrier said.
"Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) has done an excellent job in implementing the alternative method," Finnair said in its statement.
Estonia has accused neighbouring Russia of jamming GPS navigation devices in airspace above the Baltic states, echoing concerns from airlines that say they have been contending with such interference for months.
