HOUSTON, Sept 12 (Reuters) -Exxon Mobil XOM.N was increasing production at its 522,500 barrel-per-day (bpd) Baton Rouge, Louisiana refinery on Thursday following the passage of Hurricane Francine east of the plant on Wednesday night, said people familiar with plant operations.

The Baton Rouge refinery's production was approaching maximum output on Thursday morning, the sources said. Exxon reduced the refinery's production to as low as 20% of the refinery's capacity during the storm's landfall and passage north through Louisiana overnight.

"We’re thankful that there appears to be no significant damage or flooding at our Baton Rouge area facilities, and our thoughts are with all those impacted," said Exxon spokesperson Lauren Kight. "Our Baton Rouge area facilities are operating as normal. We continue to meet customer commitments."
