SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, Aug 1 (Reuters) -Costa Rican coffee exports rose 16.4%in July compared with the same month a year earlier, data released from national coffee institute ICAFE showed on Thursday.

Costa Rican coffee farmers shipped 118,150 60-kgbags in July, some 16,600 morethan in the same month last year, the data showed.

Known for its high-quality arabica beans, Costa Rica exports over 85% of its harvest and is the 14th largest coffee grower worldwide.

Through the first 10 monthsof the 2023/24 season, which runs from October to September, the Central American country's exports are down by about 5%.

ICAFE expects the current cropto dip by about 16% compared with last season's harvest duelargely to unfavorable weather.
