CHICAGO, July 16 (Reuters) -Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat futures fell further on Tuesday after recovering somewhat from life-of-contract lows the previous day, pressured by the advance of the Northern Hemisphere winter wheat harvest and cheap Russian wheat supply, analysts said.

  • CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU24 settled down 1-3/4 cents at $5.30-3/4 per bushel after reaching another contract low of $5.25-1/4.

  • K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU24 ended down 5-1/4 cents at $5.25-1/4 a bushel and MGEX September spring wheat MWEU24 fell 5 cents to finish at $5.75-3/4.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its Monday crop progress report that U.S. winter wheat was 71% harvested, up from 63% the previous week.

  • The USDA said 77% of the spring wheat crop was in good to excellent condition.

  • Egypt and Algeria called wheat import tenders on Monday in what traders viewed as a response to lower prices. The lowest free-on-board offer presented at Egypt's tender was $226 per metric ton for 60,000 tons of Russian wheat, traders said.

  • Egypt's state grains buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), said on Tuesday it bought 770,000 metric tons of wheat in an international tender, comprising 50,000 metric tons of Bulgarian wheat and 720,000 metric tons of Russian wheat.

  • Jordan's state grains buyer purchased about 60,000 metric tons of hard milling wheat to be sourced from optional origins in an international tender on Tuesday, traders said.

  • Traders continue to digest Friday's monthly supply/demand reports from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in which the government raised its projection of the U.S. 2024 wheat harvest to 2.008 billion bushels, topping a range of analysts' expectations.
