Corrects K.C. wheat price from last traded to settlement

CHICAGO, July 25 (Reuters) -Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures eased on Thursday as export sales data fell at the low end of expectations and scouts on a crop tour in North Dakota projected that spring wheat fields in the state will produce the highest yields on record.

  • CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU24 ended down 9-1/4 cents at $5.37-3/4 per bushel.

  • September K.C. hard red winter wheat KWU24 ended 6 cents lower at $5.61-1/2per bushel and MGEX September spring wheat MWEU24 settled down 7 cents at $6.03-3/4 a bushel.

  • U.S. wheat export sales for the week ended July 18 were 309,300 metric tons, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said. Analysts expected 300,000 to 625,000 tons.

  • Scouts on an annual North Dakota crop tour on Thursday projected hard red spring wheat yields in the top-producing state will average 54.5 bushels per acre, the highest ever according to records going back to 1992.

  • Soft wheat exports from the European Union since the start of the 2024/25 season in July had reached 1.44 million metric tons by July 21, down 35% from 2.21 million tons a year earlier, according to data published by the European Commission on Tuesday.

  • However, the Commission said export figures for France, the EU's largest wheat and barley exporter, have been incomplete since the beginning of the 2024 calendar year.
