CHICAGO, July 5 (Reuters) -Chicago Board of Trade most active corn futures Cv1 ticked up on Friday due to concerns about overly hot weather in the U.S. Midwest, while trade slowed between the July 4 market closure and ahead of the weekend.

  • Dry, hot weather forecasted for the U.S. Midwest could threaten the crop during its crucial pollination period.

  • The USDA reported export sales of U.S. old-crop corn in the week ended June 27 at 357,200 metric tons, below a range of trade expectations for 500,000 to 900,000 tons. New-crop corn sales totaled 311,500 tons.

  • Traders will closely monitor weather throughout the summer, which is expected to be unusually hot, analysts said.

  • September corn CU24 was up 5 cents at $4.10-1/2 per bushel at the close of trading.

  • Most-active December corn CZ24 ended up 4-1/2 cents at $4.24 a bushel.
