CHICAGO, May 17 (Reuters) -Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ended lower on Friday on expectations U.S. farmers will have a window for plantings over the weekend, analysts said.

  • CBOT July corn CN24 settled down 4-1/2 cents at $4.52-1/2 per bushel.

  • For the week, CBOT July corn CN0 fell 17-1/4 cents per bushel, or 3.7%, after rising the previous three weeks.

  • Drier weather will give farmers an opportunity to plant crops this weekend before rains arrive in corn-producing areas of the United States next week, according to analysts.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture is slated to issue a weekly update on planting progress on Monday.

  • In Argentina, the Buenos Aires grain exchange said the country's corn harvest is just over a quarter of the way through, holding its production estimate for the season at 46.5 million tons.
