- Chinese online retailer JD.com 9618.HK is exploring a bid for British parcel delivery company Evri, whose private equity owners are seeking to offload for about 2 billion pounds ($2.54 billion).


- Shell SHEL.L has paused the construction of one of Europe's largest biofuel plants in an effort to tackle technical problems and bring costs under control, as its boss attempts to boost returns.

- Former British chancellor Sajid Javid is to become a partner at investment firm Centricus, founded by a trio of his former colleagues at Deutsche Bank.


- British water companies could face a spate of legal challenges by people and businesses affected by sewage pollution after a ruling that United Utilities could be sued by a private company for damage caused by the dumping of human waste.

- Rupert Murdoch's Fox Corporation has launched free streaming service Tubi in the UK, adding a new player to a crowded market that already includes Netflix, Disney, Apple and Amazon.


- Britain's Royal Mail has blamed delays to postal votes on Rishi Sunak's decision to call a snap election and has called for a "review into the timetable for future elections", to make sure that the postal voting system "works as smoothly as possible".
