BRASILIA, Aug 22 (Reuters) -Brazil's federal tax revenue reached 231.04 billion reais ($41.62 billion) in July, a 9.55% growth in real terms over the same period last year, the revenue service said on Thursday.

It marked the highest revenue collection for July ever since the current government data series began in 1995, a trend consistent with every other month of this year as well.

The revenue boost has been aiding President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's administration in its quest to meet the fiscal target of eliminating the primary budget deficit, with a 0.25% gross domestic product (GDP) tolerance margin on either side.

But even though private economists surveyed on a weekly basis by the central bank have improved their outlook in recent weeks, they still forecast the country will record a primary deficit of 0.64% of GDP in 2024.

Inflation-adjusted tax revenues increased by 9.15% in the January-July period from a year earlier, said the revenue service.
