Sept 16 (Reuters) -Bank of America BAC.N has hired Citigroup's C.N former Chief Accounting Officer Johnbull Okpara to the same role, according to a memo seen by Reuters.

Okpara, who resigned from Citi earlier in the month after a stint of nearly 4 years, will replace long-serving accounting chief of Bank of America, Rudolf Bless.

Joining in December, Okpara will work with Bless during a transition period into 2025, revealed the memo sent last week by BofA's Finance Chief, Alastair Borthwick.

During this period, Bless will consider his future plans, the memo added.

"A seasoned veteran in our industry, Johnbull has held senior roles focused on corporate governance, strategic and financial planning, regulatory management and compliance, risk management and expense management," Borthwick said.

In a career spanning over 30 years, Okpara has held key roles in companies such as Morgan Stanley MS.N, American Express AXP.N and Ernst & Young (EY) before joining Citi.

Okpara will report to CFO Borthwick.
