STOXX EYES JUBILANT START AFTER FED'S BUMPER CUT
European stocks are heading for a jubilant start to Thursday, rising 1% as markets digest Wednesday's larger-than-usual 50 bps rate cut from the U.S. Federal Reserve.
The party isn't over yet, with just hours to go before the Bank of England announces its next policy decision, though the central bank is expected to hold rates.
Euro Stoxx 50 futures STXEc1 are 1% higher, while German DAX futures FDXc1 and FTSE futures FFIc1 are up 0.8%.
Attention remains on developments at Commerzbank CBKG.DE, which is poised to put CFO Bettina Orlopp in charge of talks with UniCredit CRDI.MI when the German bank's supervisory board meets next week, two people with knowledge of the matter said, as the Italian rival eyes a takeover.
In earnings, Poland's biggest e-commerce platform Allegro ALEP.WA forecast its earnings growth to slow down at home in the third quarter to 11-13%.
UK earnings include retailer Next .NXT.L, online grocer Ocado OCDO.L and Close Brothers CBRO.L.
Also in focus are EU carmakers. Data from Europe's auto industry body showed on Thursday that new car sales in the European Union fell to their lowest in three years in August.
