NEW YORK, July 18 (Reuters) -Cash differentials for gasoline and diesel gained on Thursday on a prolonged outage at Exxon Mobil's 251,800 barrel-per-day Joliet refinery in Illinois, traders said.

The refinery remains without power as of Thursday after it suffered outages during a tornado earlier in the week, a company spokesperson said. The spokesperson added that they would not speculate on how long operations may be suspended.

Chicago CBOB gasoline CBOB-DIFF-MC gained 12.25 cents to trade 2 cents a gallon below the RBOB gasoline futures benchmark RBc1 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, traders said.

Chicago ultra-low sulfur diesel ULSD-DIFF-MC gained a cent to 1.5 cents per gallon below the ULSD futures benchmark HOc1.

Elsewhere in the Midwest, Group 3 V-grade gasoline RUV-DIFF-G3 gained a cent to trade 14.75 cents below futures.

Group 3 diesel ULSD-DIFF-G3 was little changed at 10.25 cents lower than the benchmark.

In the U.S. Gulf Coast region, gasoline grades declined as multiple parties tried to sell the product but buyer interest was thin.

Gulf Coast M2 conventional gasoline RU-DIFF-USG fell 3 cents to 15 cents below futures and A2 CBOB gasoline CBOB-DIFF-USG fell three quarters of a cent to trade 22 cents a gallon below futures, traders said.

Gulf Coast 62-grade ULSD ULSD-DIFF-USG gained quarter of a cent, trading 7.5 cents per gallon below futures.

In New York Harbor, M2 conventional gasoline RU-DIFF-NYH was little changed at a cent per gallon below futures, traders said.

Diesel for delivery in New York Harbor ULSD-DIFF-NYH gained quarter of a cent, trading 2 cents per gallon below futures, traders said.

RBOB futures rose 1.51 cents to settle at $2.5164 a gallon, while ULSD futures fell 0.72 cent to $2.4868 a gallon.

Renewable fuel (D6) credits RIN-D6-US for 2024 traded between 64 cents and 64.5 cents, versus between 65 cents and 63 cents earlier. Biomass-based (D4) credits RIN-D4-US for 2024 traded at parity to D6 credits both on Thursday and inthe prior session.
