Forward rates set for weekly fall as water level rises
Aug 23 (Reuters) -Nordic forward power contracts were headed for a weekly decline as water levels in the hydropower-reliant region rose, while lower European energy prices also weighed down the contracts.
* Nordic front-quarter power contract ENOFBLQc1 was down 2.6 euros to 41.4 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) by 1140 GMT on Friday. The contract lost about 8.7% so far this week.
* Nordic front-year ENOFBLYc1 lost 1 euro to 41.2 euros, and lost about 2.5% this week.
* Nordic water reserves available 15 days ahead PCAEC00 were seen at 6.36 terawatt hours (TWh) above normal, compared with 2.50 TWh above normal on Thursday.
* "We are in a period now with the very wet and windy weather type… in addition, we have a lower gas and continental power prices," said Sigve Ekeland, managing director, Cemon AS.
* Dutch and British wholesale gas prices were mostly lower, trading in a narrow range amid cooler temperatures and weak renewables generation, while the market closely monitors supply risks. NG/EU
* "The weekend and Monday will be cloudy with mostly shower-like rain and rather low temperatures," Georg Muller, a meteorologist at LSEG, said in a note.
* Germany's Cal'25 TRDEBYc1, Europe's benchmark contract, edged up 0.15 euro to 95.45 euros/MWh.
* Carbon front-year allowances CFI2Zc1 fell 0.54 euro to 71.03 euros a tonne.
* The Nordic power price for next-day physical delivery FXSYSAL=NPX, or system price, fell 3.24 euros or 121.8% to -0.58 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
