Sweden's Hexagon misses Q2 profit forecast

July 26 (Reuters) -Swedish industrial technology group Hexagon HEXAb.ST missed second-quarter profit expectations on Friday and said the trading environment, particularly in the construction and automotive markets, would remain difficult in the third quarter.
"During the second quarter of 2024 we have continued to see a slowdown in key end-markets, with slow demand in automotive and machining activities in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and China affecting our Manufacturing Intelligence (MI) business, and the global weakness of the construction sector impacting the Geosystems division," CEO Paolo Guglielmini said in a statement.
The maker of measurement and positioning systems said its adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) rose to 399.5 million euros ($433.5 million) in the April-June quarter from 394.1 million a year earlier.
That missed the 414 million euros expected by analysts in a company-provided consensus.
In April, the company said the immediate demand environment would remain mixed, after its first-quarter profit was also hit by weak construction demand.
