Scotiabank resolves technical issue impacting thousands of its customers

TORONTO, July 26 (Reuters) -Bank of Nova Scotia BNS.TO said on Friday that it has resolved a technical issue that impacted thousands of its clientsin Canada, with several complaining about missing paychecks and other problems.
"We have resolved the technical issue impacting our clients' inbound payments. Clients will start to see their payments posted to their accounts," the Canadian bank said in an email statement to Reuters.
Any fees incurred as a result of the technical issue will be refunded, it said.
The issue began early on Friday, according to Downdetector.com, which tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources including users.
More than 3,000 customers had reported problems by 1030 EDT (1430 GMT), according to Downdetector.com.
Several clients reached out to Scotiabank's helpline on social media platform X when they did not receive their paychecks, some frustrated as their rent was due and others requesting a timeline for resolving the issue.
The lender, Canada's third biggest by assets, caters to more than 11 million retail, small business and commercial banking clients in the country.
