US Cash Grains-Soybean basis bids flat-lower at river elevators
CHICAGO, Aug 19 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for soybeans delivered to barge-loading river elevators in the U.S. Midwest were flat to sharply lower on Monday, while bids at processing plants and interior elevators were unchanged, spot checks showed.
* Spot basis bids for corn were steady to lower at most elevator locations as futures advanced and supplies in the cash market were ample following grain movement by farmers last week. Bids at processors were mixed.
* Favorable crop weather supported strong harvest potential. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has already forecast massive U.S. crops this season.
* The USDA left corn and soybean ratings unchanged in its weekly crop conditions report. More than two-thirds of the crops were rated in good-to-excellent shape.
* Farmers and grain merchants are also monitoring reports from the annual Pro Farmer Midwest crop tour, which is surveying corn and soybeans across the heart of the farm belt this week.
