Asia Fuel Oil-Premiums steady; Taiwan offers more LSFO for Sept
SINGAPORE, Aug 29 (Reuters) -Spot fuel oil premiums were little changed in Asia on Thursday amid broadly quiet trade nearing the month's end, while Taiwan offered more low sulphur fuel oil for loading in September.
Prompt-month backwardation for the low sulphur market showed signs of easing on Thursday, after widening to its highest since November 2023 on Wednesday.
The Sept/Oct timespread for the market narrowed below $18 per ton on Thursday.
The market has rallied higher in the second half of this month amid a tighter outlook for finished products in September, though intra-region supplies picked up in August.
In tenders, Taiwan's CPC offered 72,000 tons of low sulphur fuel oil for loading in September, after previously offering 40,000 tons for loading during the same month.
The latest sales tender closes on Aug. 29 and is valid until Sept. 2, according to a document on CPC's website.
INVENTORY DATA
- Singapore onshore stockpiles STKRS-SIN dipped 6% to 18.15 million barrels in the week ended Aug. 28, Enterprise Singapore data showed on Thursday.

- Asia has become the top destination for Nigeria Dangote refinery's low-sulphur straight run (LSSR) fuel oil exports in 2024 so far, data showed, though trade sources expect volumes to taper off going ahead.
- Traders are slated to load record volumes of diesel on very-large crude carriers from Asia to West of Suez markets in August, a trend likely to continue next month, data from trade sources and shiptrackers showed.
