** Brokerage UBS believes both retailers and toy suppliers have been pulling products into U.S. earlier this year

** Says toy makers and retailers have shifted to West Coast ports from East Coast in the wake of potential port strikes since spring this year

** U.S. East and Gulf Coast port workers are set to go on strike on Tuesday with no talks currently scheduled to head off a stoppage threatening to halt container traffic from Maine to Texas

** Given the potential disruption from impending port strikes, spot rates as well as contract rates are likely to rise in the West Coast

** UBS expects impact for toy makers from spot rate fluctuation could be limited as peak production/shipment likely wrapped up end of August or first half of September

** Believes there has been a general push by retailers this year to increase mix of direct imports given anticipation of supply chain disruption and favorable margins
