POLITICS

Group of Seven (G7) leaders expressed "strong concern" on Wednesday over the crisis in the Middle East but said a diplomatic solution was still viable and a region-wide conflict was in no one's interest, according to a statement.

Italy will offer an extra 10,000 migrant work visas next year for people who look after the elderly and the disabled, the government said on Wednesday, as it adopted a new package of migration rules.

Microsoft MSFT.O plans to invest 4.3 billion euros ($4.8 billion) over the next two years to strengthen its artificialintelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructurein northern Italy, it said on Wednesday.

The Franco-Italian automaker's output in Italy is set to drop below 500,000 vehicles this year from 751,000 in 2023, the FIM-CISL union said on Wednesday, citing persistently soft market demand, especially for electric vehicles.

Germany rejected a proposal by Italy to bring forward a planned European Union review of the bloc's ban on the sale of new internal combustion engine cars from 2035, saying it would lower standards and cause uncertainty for industry.


TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

Italy's Treasury said on Wednesday it had submitted a 700-million-euro ($774 million) offer, jointly with Spanish infrastructure fund Asterion, for the phone group's submarine cable unit Sparkle.

A group of the bank's shareholders has extended a consultation agreement until the end of December 2027, increasing their total stake to 11.4% from 10.98%, an excerpt of the agreement showed on Thursday.

Unipol UNPI.MI and PosteVita PST.MI will each take on 2.5 billion euros worth of former Eurovita life policies as part of the rescue of the insurer now called Cronos Vita, MF reported on Thursday.

The life policies to be allocated to Intesa Sanpaolo Vita ISP.MI and Generali GASI.MI are worth 2.4 billion euros and 2.3 billion euros respectively, while Allianz will take the remaining 1.5 billion euros.
