US Cash Grains-Corn, soy basis bids stabilize after farmer sales
CHICAGO, Aug 16 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans held mostly steady on Friday following an increase in farmer sales of old-crop supplies earlier this week.
* Futures prices eased ahead of the weekend as farmer selling and non-threatening U.S. crop weather hung over the markets ahead of upcoming harvests, traders said.
* Favorable rains are expected to return in late August after benefiting Midwestern crops this week, Commodity Weather Group said.
* Traders expect next week's annual Pro Farmer crop tour to confirm large U.S. corn and soy yield potential that is bearish for prices. Five of the seven tour states are projected to set or tie record corn yields, including Illinois, Iowa and Indiana, which account for 39% of total corn production.
* A grain elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio, pulled its August soybean bid and the earliest posted bid was for September delivery, spot checks showed.
