US Cash Grains-Soy, corn bids mostly steady amid floods and heat
CHICAGO, June 25 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans on Tuesday remained mostly steady across the U.S. Midwest, underpinned by a slow pace of farmer selling as the region is battered by drenching floods and intense heat.
* Basis bids at an Iowa corn processor weakened by 1 cent and firmed by 3 cents at a Nebraska processor.
* Several soybean processing sites have rolled their basis bids to the Chicago Board of Trade August SQ24 futures contract as the spot July contract SN24 nears its delivery phase ahead of expiration next month.
* Despite damaging rains and heat, ratings for the U.S. corn and soy crops remained at their highest for this time of year in four years.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) late Monday rated 69% of the corn crop as good to excellent, down 3 percentage points from a week ago, matching the average expectation among 12 analysts surveyed by Reuters.
* For soybeans, the USDA rated 67% of the crop as good to excellent, down 3 percentage points from 70% last week, while analysts on average had expected a 2-point decline.
* At mid-session, CBOT July soybean futures SN24 were down 17-1/2 cents at $11.57-3/4 per bushel, while July corn CN24 was down 7-1/4 cents at $4.26-1/4 a bushel.
* Market players await Friday's USDA acreage and quarterly stocks reports, which have a history of jolting CBOT futures.
