US Cash Grains-Corn bids mostly flat, soy steady to lower
CHICAGO, June 27 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn were mostly flat while soy bids were steady to lower in the U.S. Midwest in a quiet cash trade on Thursday as Chicago Board of Trade futures continued to hover near multi-month lows.
* More locations rolled their corn basis to the CBOT September CU24 futures contract, as the CBOT July contract CN24 nears its expiration.
* Corn bids increased at an Iowa elevator, while soy bids decreased at an Iowa processor and river terminal.
* Flooding has hit parts of the U.S. Midwest, causing some buyers to raise basis bids to incentivize selling from reluctant producers. But flooded rail lines have backed up grain movement and weighed on basis values in other areas, an analyst said.
* Market players await Friday's U.S. Department of Agriculture acreage and quarterly stocks reports, which have a history of jolting CBOT futures.
* At midday, Chicago Board of Trade August soybeans SQ24 were down 8 cents at $11.34-1/4 per bushel. CBOT September corn futures CU24 were down 3 cents at $4.22-1/2 a bushel after hitting a life-of-contract low.
