Turkey - Factors To Watch on July 29
ISTANBUL, July 29 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 32.95-33.1350 against the U.S. dollar at 0416 GMT, after closing at 32.94 on Friday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.18% higher at 10,8891.42 points on Friday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares bounced on Monday into a week packed with earnings and a trio of central bank meetings that could see the United States and UK open the door to easing, while Japan might lift borrowing costs in a step toward "normality".
ERDOGAN ISRAEL COMMENTS
President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Turkey might enter Israel as it had done in the past in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, though he did not spell out what sort of intervention he was suggesting.
BEIRUT AIRPORT
Turkish Airlines THYAO.IS and other Turkish carriers cancelled flights into Beirut overnight, like other airlines, as tensions escalate between Israel and armed political group Hezbollah.
GCC FREE TRADE PACT
The first round of negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Turkey are to be held July 29-31 in Ankara with the participation of nine Saudi governmental entities, Saudi state news agency SPA reported on Sunday.
MAIN OPPOSITION
Ozgur Ozel, leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), will chair a meeting of the party's central executive committee. (1030 GMT)
TRANSPORT MINISTER
Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will visit Cukurova Airport in southern Turkey and make a press statement. (1000 GMT)
