NEW RECORDS FOR STOXX 600, FTSE 100 AND DAX; CAC CLOSING IN ON FRESH PEAK
The pan-European benchmark STOXX 600 .STOXX hit a new intraday record on Friday and is heading for its second-biggest weekly jump of the year, as robust earnings and dovish central banks lift equities.
"Companies have largely maintained their guidance, and their tone on the outlook has
improved," writes Barclays equity strategist Emmanuel Cau.
"Consequently, this has translated into better earnings momentum, providing fundamental support for the recent rebound in equity markets."
The STOXX 600 is last up 0.6%, touching a new peak of 519.93, boosted by the basic resources sector .SXPP on Friday which is gaining 1.6%.
The FTSE 100 .FTSE also touched a new peak, with the index up 2.6% this week after the Bank of England set the scene for a summer rate cut on Thursday.
Germany's DAX .GDAXI is also at a new record, while France's CAC 40 .FCHI is within a quarter of a percent from its own intraday high, last reached in March.
Buzzi BZU.MI leads gainers after the cement maker announced a new buyback programme of up 200 million euros ($215.62 million) following results.
Getinge GETIb.ST shares are trailing after the U.S. FDA advised healthcare facilities to switch from using the company's heart devices.
