Europe before the bell: A calmer end to the week

EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: A CALMER END TO THE WEEK
European stocks are in for a tepid end to the week, as traders ramp up bets on more ECB rate cuts after Thursday's and digest some less than stellar data out of China.
EuroSTOXX50 STXEc1 futures are off 0.2% as are DAX futures FDXc1 while FTSE futures FFIc1 are down 0.5%.
If losses hold post-open it would put the STOXX 600 .STOXX on track for a tiny weekly gain of 0.1%.
Data out of China showed the country's Q3 GDP hit its weakest pace since early 2023.
Elsewhere, UK data showed British retail sales unexpectedly rose by 0.3% in September.
Quarterly earnings rumble on. Swedish truck maker AB Volvo VOLVb.ST reported a bigger drop than expected in its third-quarter adjusted operating profit while Swedish medical equipment maker Getinge GETIb.ST reported third-quarter core earnings below expectations.
In company news, BP BP.L is considering selling a minority stake in its offshore wind business, according to four sources with knowledge of the matter.
Samsung Electronics 005930.KS has postponed taking deliveries of ASML ASML.AS chipmaking equipment for its upcoming factory in Texas as it has yet to win any major customers for the project, three people familiar with the matter said.
Netflix's NFLO.F Frankfurt-listed shares rose 4.5% in early trading after the U.S. streaming service said new Q3 subscribers topped Wall Street estimates by 1 million.
