CBOT Trends-Wheat down 1-3 cents, corn steady-up 1 cent, soy up 3-4 cents
CHICAGO, Aug 27 (Reuters) -Following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Tuesday.
NOTE: Friday is the first notice day for deliveries against CBOT September futures contracts.
WHEAT - Down 1 to 3 cents per bushel
* CBOT wheat futures fell to contract lows across the board in early moves on technical selling, ample global wheat supplies and strong export competition from Black Sea suppliers. K.C. December KWZ24 and MGEX December MWEZ24 wheat held above contract lows set on Monday.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) late on Monday rated 69% of the U.S. spring wheat crop as good to excellent, down from 73% last week, while analysts surveyed by Reuters on average had expected only a 1-point drop.
* CBOT December soft red winter wheat WZ24 was last down 1-1/2 cents at $5.23-1/2 per bushel. K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ24 was last down 1/4 cent at $5.37 per bushel, and MGEX December spring wheat MWEZ24 was last down 3/4 cent at $5.67-1/4 per bushel.
CORN - Steady to up 1 cent per bushel
* CBOT corn futures seen steady to firmer after the benchmark December contract CZ24 matched its contract low in early moves at $3.85 a bushel, the lowest on a continuous chart of the most-active contract Cv1 since October 2020. Rallies capped by expectations for a large U.S. harvest and sales of old-crop supplies by farmers.
* Hot temperatures in the U.S. Midwest are forecast to moderate later this week.
* The USDA confirmed private sales of 127,760 metric tons of U.S. new-crop corn to Mexico.
* The USDA late Monday rated 65% of the U.S. corn crop as good to excellent, down from 67% the prior week, while analysts surveyed by Reuters on average had expected only a 1-point drop.
* CBOT December corn CZ24 was last up 1/4 cent at $3.86-3/4 per bushel.
SOYBEANS - Up 3 to 4 cents per bushel
* Soybean futures head higher, supported by uncertainty about the impact of hot temperatures and a lack of rainfall in large parts of the U.S. Midwest as the soybean crop finishes its key development stage. A flurry of recent export deals lends support.
* The USDA late Monday rated 67% of the U.S. soybean crop as good to excellent, down 1 percentage point from the previous week and in line with trade expectations.
* CBOT November soybeans SX24 were last up 3-1/4 cents at $9.84 per bushel.
