SAO PAULO, Aug 27 (Reuters) -Below are some quotes from analysts about Brazilian mining giant Vale VALE3.SA naming finance head Gustavo Pimenta as its next chief executive officer, replacing Eduardo Bartolomeo.
JPMORGAN ANALYSTS
"Pimenta is not only well known among investors but also highly respected as an executive. As such, we believe the news of his promotion will be very well received by the market.
"The stock has underperformed peers as overhangs such as the CEO replacement process has weighed on the company's share price performance. The resolution of such overhangs should be a catalyst for Vale's share price performance."
RBC ANALYSTS
"As an internal candidate who has been with the company for about 5 years, Mr. Pimenta's election as the new CEO is likely to allay fears of potential political influence within Vale's leadership. The announcement also marks a close to the noisy CEO succession process and removes a key overhang on the stock."
GOLDMAN SACHS ANALYSTS
"Our conversation with investors suggest an internal name would potentially be aligned with the majority stakeholders (investors, board, government) and would also bring continuity to the strategy.
"We believe the current challenge will be on continued operational improvement on different fronts ... (and) would also expect investors' focus to be on Mr. Pimenta's ability to navigate the dialogue with Brazilian government."

"Picking a name from within Vale has the positive aspect of him knowing the main projects and initiatives currently underway at the company. (But) it is worth highlighting that the biggest hurdle for Vale right now is the low Chinese growth and low iron ore prices."
