XM does not provide services to residents of the United States of America.
In September, XM joined forces with the JDC Foundation to help the millions of victims of the recent flooding in Pakistan, which is considered the worst in the country’s history.
Torrential monsoon rains triggered the devastating disaster, washing away villages and affecting 33 million people across the country. It’s estimated to have destroyed over 800,000 houses and damaged at least 1,200,000 more homes. Millions of Pakistanis have had to flee the floods and are now forced to live under the open sky until they can find a temporary shelter in the ‘tent cities’ being put up to accommodate them.
Supporting the world’s communities in their times of struggle is at the heart of our corporate social responsibility program. With the help of JDC Foundation, we’ve extended our hands to the Pakistanis affected by the flood and donated 100 waterproof tents. Each purpose-built tent can accommodate up to 5 people meaning our initiative will provide a shelter for around 500 people. This will be their base with other relief organisations attending to other basic needs while the victims wait for the flood water to recede from their homes, which can take months.
About a decade ago, the JDC Foundation started its journey as a small camp in a densely populated area that had been badly affected by flooding. It has since gone on to set up further camps to react to disasters in the country and has also built medical centres.
JDC Foundation is committed to providing relief to the underprivileged communities facing disasters, fatalities, and injustice, and operates wholly from donations. To learn more about the humanitarian work they do and make a donation to the JDC Foundation, click here.
