Posted on August 22, 2019 at 9:30 am GMT

The euro area is on the brink of yet another crisis, with Germany likely to enter a technical recession soon, as the export-heavy economy feels the burn of the US-China trade war and of Brexit worries. Although the ECB is preparing another dose of easing, monetary policy is already exhausted, and fiscal policy needs to step up. Sadly, any German stimulus is unlikely to be large and may take long to arrive, so any sustained rebound in the euro seems [..]

Posted on August 20, 2019 at 12:01 pm GMT

It will be a decisive week for the US dollar, with the minutes of the latest Fed meeting being released on Wednesday (18:00 GMT), before Fed chief Jay Powell delivers remarks at the Jackson Hole symposium on Friday (14:00 GMT). Since the minutes won’t reflect the latest escalation in trade, they could appear slightly hawkish relative to current market pricing, lifting the dollar. Technical Analysis – EURUSD looks for a rebound but upside could be limited

Posted on August 19, 2019 at 9:50 am GMT

EURUSD surrendered most of its monthly gains and dropped below 1.1100 after finding a wall around the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) and the 1.1230-1.1250 area. Technically, the price could pause negative momentum in the very short-term as the Stochastics signal oversold conditions. The RSI seems to be easing downside movement as well, though as long as it holds under its 50 neutral-mark, any upside correction in the price is likely to appear insignificant. Note that the red Tenkan-sen reversed back south [..]
