SCHWAB CLIENTS CONFIDENT IN MARKET, NOT ELECTION

Traders are the most bullish in two years as inflation concerns and anticipation of a U.S. recession subside, according to a client sentiment report released by online brokerage giant Charles Schwab.

In its third quarter survey of 1,040 active traders, conducted in July and released on Wednesday, Schwab found 59% of see this as a good time to invest in equities, with the main concern about investing switching from inflation to the U.S. presidential election in November.

Trader bullishness rose across most S&P sectors, with energy .SPNY, materials .SPLRCM and industrials .SPLRCI> seeing slight reductions.

While 83% of those polled expect the Federal Reserve to cut rates by year end, half expected a reduction of less than 50 basis points.

Some other findings:

** Fifty seven percent feel a recession is unlikely, up from 51% in the second quarter survey

** Bullishness on AI stocks rose to sixty-two percent of traders from 56% in the second quarter

** The vast majority of traders expect a financial market impact from the election; One third are already making changes to their trading strategy mainly by reducing risk and hedging with options
