PREVIEW: Meta Platforms edges up; results due after the bell

** Meta Platforms META.O shares were near unchanged on Wed, with the Facebook parent expected to report a rise in rev when it delivers quarterly results after the closing bell

** Upbeat quarterly results from Alphabet GOOGL.O, Reddit RDDT.N and Snap SNAP.N late Tues lifted investor optimism ahead of reports from Meta and others

** Analysts expect META to report a jump in rev to $40.29 bln from $34.15 bln a yr ago, while it is expected to post EPS of $5.25 vs $4.39 in the yr-ago period, according to LSEG data

** Meta has beaten analysts' expectations on earnings in six of the last eight reporting periods, per LSEG

** Angelo Zino, vice president and senior equity analyst at CFRA Research, wrote in a recent note that the firm expects META "to provide initial opex and capex guidance for 2025, which will likely be the most important data point for investors"

** He wrote that the firm also expects "higher infrastructure costs to be a significant driver of expense growth next year as META recognizes higher depreciation and operating expenses"

** Analyst ratings include 62 "strong buy" or "buy" ratings, six "hold" ratings and two "sell" ratings, based on LSEG data

** The median 12-mo price target for META is $610​; the stock was last at $593.88

** Including the session move, META was up 68% YTD while the S&P 500 .SPX was up 22% in that period
