POLITICS

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hailed Italy's efforts to tackle illegal immigration on Monday, saying the two countries would share intelligence, strategy and work more closely together to "smash" people smuggling gangs.


ECONOMY

Italian cabinet meets to discuss Rome's medium-term structural budget plan to be presented to the European Commission.


COMPANIES

(*) STELLANTIS STLAM.MI

The United Auto Workers union said on Monday it had filed unfair labor practice charges against Chrysler-parent Stellantis for violating the labor contract the parties reached last fall.

The UAW said it filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board because Stellantis has refused to provide information about its future product plans.


TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

London-based investment fund Davide Leone and Partners said on Monday it had bought Telecom Italia TLITn.MI savings shares and currently owned one tenth of the total.

(*) The fund decided to invest in Telecom Italia because "the telecoms sector in Europe is undervalued, as was the banking sector years ago" and with interest rates falling and new EU rules, investments in the industry could be favoured, Leone was quoted as saying by daily la Repubblica on Tuesday. He told the daily that over the years, savings shares had been underrated and that he saw the potential for payouts from the company.


(*) LEONARDO LDOF.MI, IVECO IVG.MI

Iveco CEO Olof Persson said there are currently no formal discussions underway with Leonardo for the sale of the group's defence division, La Stampa and la Repubblica reported on Tuesday. "I am open to offers, but we need to assess them at the right time and if they are attractive," the executive added, speaking in an interview with La Stampa.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday stressed the importance of a fighter jet programme with Italy and Japan, known as the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP)or in Britain as Tempest, after speculation that his new government could axe its participation in the scheme in a defence review.

The multi-billion dollar fighter jet programme is "a very important project", Starmer told la Repubblica in an interview published on Tuesday, adding a "strategic review (is) underway, but it will not touch similar plans".

The bank' s 1.7 billion euros buyback program launched on Monday could increase the shareholding of Delfin, the Del Vecchio family holding company, to 3% from 2.6%, Il Sole 24-Ore reported.


(*) BANCA GENERALI BGN.MI

Following its takeover bid on broker Intermonte, the private bank aims to present its financial plan by next spring, Chief Executive Gian Maria Mossa told Il Sole 24 Ore in an interview published on Tuesday.

When asked if Banca Generali might be considered as a target for M&A, Mossa said it is "natural that there is interest for us", but that it did not necessarily translate into something that would actually happen.


ANIMA HOLDING ANIM.MI

The asset manager has completed a share buyback programme, under which it bought 8.3 million of its own shares, equal to 2.59% of share capital, for a total of 40 million euros ($44.50 million), it said on Monday.

It now owns 2.96% of its share capital.
