Anglo American gains on selling Australian steelmaking coal mines
** Shares in Anglo American AAL.L up 2.5% at 2,417p, among top pct gainers on FTSE 100 .FTSE index
** Miner Anglo agrees to sell its Australian steelmaking coal mines to Peabody Energy BTU.N for up to $3.78 bln
** Deal comprises upfront payment of $2.05 bln at completion, deferred cash consideration of $725 mln, potential for up to $550 mln in price-linked earnout, and contingent cash consideration of $450 mln linked to reopening of the Grosvenor mine
** After coal, Anglo expected to spin out its Anglo American Platinum AMSJ.J unit in South Africa by mid-2025
** Anglo American shares up ~22% so far this year
