US Plains HRW Wheat-Basis unchanged in subdued trade
CHICAGO, Aug 29 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat held steady in the southern U.S. Plains on Thursday in quiet cash trade, dealers said.
* A few locations have rolled their basis to the K.C. December KWZ24 HRW wheat futures contract as the September futures contract KWU24 approaches its delivery phase and Sept. 13 expiration.
* Protein premiums for HRW wheat shipped by rail to or through Kansas City were unchanged. KCBT/SCA
* K.C. September HRW wheat futures KWU24 settled up 3/4 cent at $5.45-1/2 a bushel and December futures KWZ24 rose 4-3/4 cents to finish at $5.60-1/2 a bushel.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Thursday reported export sales of U.S. new-crop wheat in the week ended Aug. 22 at 532,100 metric tons, toward the high end of trade expectations for 300,000 to 650,000 tons. The total included sales of 170,700 tons of HRW wheat. EXP/WHE
