CHICAGO, Nov 8 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat were steady to higher on Friday as rains hit drought-hit areas of the U.S. Plains and buyers sought to increase farmer selling.

* Continued showers over the U.S. Plains have provided badly needed moisture to the major wheat-growing region.

* The USDA raised world ending stocks for wheat to 257.57 million metric tons, above analyst estimates for 256.79 million tons.

* Buyers have turned their attention to wheat as the soy harvest winds down.

* An Oklahoma buyer increased their basis bid by 15 cents.

* Protein premiums for HRW wheat shipped by rail to or through Kansas City were unchanged for all grades of wheat. KCBT/SCA

* K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ24 fell 4-3/4 cents to close at $5.64-1/4 per bushel.
