Sinopec's Zhenhai oil refinery expands capacity to 40 mln T
SINGAPORE, Dec 19 (Reuters) -Sinopec's 600028.SS Zhenhai refinery has completed its expansion of oil refining capacity to 40 million metric tons, or about 800,000 barrels per day (bpd).
Zhenhai's crude oil processing capacity stood at 23 million tons per year before the expansion, its website says.
With total investment of 41.6 billion yuan ($5.70 billion), Zhenhai Refining and Chemical has added 18 units including atmospheric distillation, catalytic cracking and polypropylene, the company said on Thursday.
It will supply close to 8 million tons per year of petrochemical products for the production of automobiles, household electrical appliances and textiles.
The expanded capacity is expected to start up in late December or early January, said two sources close to the matter, with some petrochemical units to start up in the first week of January.
